Joseph Mwamba is an emerging African-American Y.A. dramedy writer from Indiana. Joe was the Writers’ Assistant & wrote an episode on an upcoming Netflix series. He was also a Writers’ Assistant for Amazon UK’s narrative podcast STRANGE CASE, and Writers’ PA for Netflix’s YOU (S4) & Apple TV’s THE AFTERPARTY (S2). His work made him a 2024 Disney Fellowship Finalist and named ISA’s Top 25 Screenwriter to Watch in 2023.

He also co-runs WGA Virtual Mix, a Discord group of 2800+ emerging writers, where he plans Q&As with professional writers and virtual events. Additionally, he’s organized the monthly Miracle Mile Mixer for Writers for 4 years. Active during the WGA Strike, he became a runner for the Universal Strike team and created the monthly #PreWGADay to show non-union writers picketing in solitary with the WGA. He also gave initial help to Joelle Garfinkel’s GREEN ENVELOPE GROCERY AID, creating their application & logo to help give away $100 to 150+ writers who needed aid over two weeks. Post-strike, he co-created the Pre-WGA Mentorship Program, where upper-level writers were matched with over 200 emerging writers to amplify professional writer relationships.

His Y.A. action dramedy THE KNIGHT’S PHOENIX won the Grand Prize of 2021 (awarded in 2022) Emerging Screenwriters’ Action & Adventure Pilot Competition. His STRANGER THINGS spec is the highest downloaded script on THE STUNT LIST, and his newest Y.A. mystery drama FINDING A LOST PEN helped land Joe as a Finalist for Mentorship Matters and a Circle Member of the Rideback Rise Fellowship.
